Students step up pressure on Burt

Hundreds of students from the Guild of Students, University of Birmingham have signed their names to boxes of letters addressed to local Lib Dem MP, Lorely Burt in a bid to secure her backing with a vote against a rise in University fees.

Hundreds of students from the Guild of Students, University of Birmingham have signed their names to boxes of letters addressed to local Lib Dem MP, Lorely Burt in a bid to secure her backing with a vote against a rise in University fees.

President of the Guild of Students, Dora Meredith and Vice President (education & access), Rob Hunter hand delivered the mountain of letters when they met with Lorely in Westminster on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, students were planning a day of protest today, Wednesday, over plans to increase tuition fees. A Parliamentary vote on the issue is expected to take place in a matter of weeks.
