THE family of a teenager who was killed in a road accident last weekend have paid tribute to their “beautiful son”.
Dale Holland, aged 17, was behind the wheel of a Ford Ka which hit a tree on Coleshill Heath Road, Chelmsley Wood. The crash took place at just after 11pm on Sunday evening.
Another 17-year-old, who was a passenger in the vehicle, remains in a critical condition at Heartlands Hospital. He has not been named at this stage.
Firefighters from Bickenhill and Sheldon had battled to free the pair from the wreckage, but Dale died at the scene. Flowers and messages have been placedat the scene of the accident.
Stephanie and Mark Holland, Dale’s parents, have released a statement paying tribute to their son - who was affectionately known as Dutch.
They said: “Our family are in total shock at the untimely death of our beautiful son Dale.
“We are overwhelmed by the sheer number of friends Dale has, who have shown their regret and sorrow that Dale has gone from everyone’s lives.
“Dale, who will always be remembered by his ‘cheeky grin’ and trademark hat, will leave a massive void in our hearts.
“We would like to thank all those that have offered help and shown support over the recent days.”
Police are investigating the collision and have bailed a 17-year-old - who was arrested in connection with the accident - pending further enquiries.
Officers are urging witnesses to come forward and are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a dark-coloured Nissan Skyline, who stopped to assist at the time of the crash.
