Super slimmer Noreen ‘slimline’ Burgess lost the combined weight of both of her children to be a positive role model for her son and daughter.

Noreen, who was classed as morbidly obese, is now a healthy weight for the first time in her life after going from a size 24 to a 12 in just 10 months.

The mum-of-two, from Balsall Common, lost five and a half stones, which is the combined weight of both of her children.

Noreen had been overweight for most of her life and found herself in a state of depression, which lasted throughout her twenties and thirties.

At her heaviest, Noreen weighed just over 17 stones, failing to lose any weight despite trying a range of diets.

“I was overweight as a child and don’t remember a period in my life when I wasn’t on a diet. Healthy food and exercise soon became buzz words for boring and punishing,” Noreen said.

“I met my partner Dave when I was 21 and he didn’t care about my weight so I never felt under pressure to diet.

“It was only when our daughter Erin was born in 2005 that I really felt quite heavy and uncomfortable. I wanted to be the mum who ran around the park with her kids, without having to worry about everyone staring at me.

But four years later when Jake came along I was as heavy as ever.”

After getting in shape, in 2012 Noreen ran the London Marathon, but she was still not losing any weight.

“Training for the marathon allowed me to eat what I wanted leading up to the run but I never lost any weight. My diet was so unhealthy that all the effort I was putting in with my training runs would be completely outdone by the high fat, high sugar processed food I was eating day in, day out,” she said.

Noreen wanted to be a healthy role model for her children and so decided to try the Slimming World diet.

“In the first month of joining Slimming World I went on a theatre trip to London, celebrated my daughter’s communion, spent five days in a muddy Glastonbury field and still managed to lose over a stone.

“The plan was working because it gave me the freedom to make healthier choices without feeling deprived.”

Noreen has now become a Slimming World consultant to motivate others to lose weight.
