Supermarket plans unveiled at event

AN exhibition on plans to bring a Waitrose supermarket to Knowle will be held next week.

AN exhibition on plans to bring a Waitrose supermarket to Knowle will be held next week.

Kimberley Developments will host the event at Knowle Village Hall on Friday January 15 from 11am to 7pm and Saturday January 16 from 10am to 4pm.

Residents will be able to give feedback on the plans, which a flyer delivered to homes said would “enhance” the village.

The flyer includes a map which highlights land to the back of the former Wine Rack, adjoining The Red Lion and extending to homes fronting St John’s Close.

It then includes the village hall and surrounding car parks, including spaces to the rear of NatWest bank.

It says: “This would be for a mixed use scheme designed to bring new community facilities to Knowle, including improved parking, new open spaces and a small Waitrose food shop to complement the village and its existing traders.”

The developer said it has been working with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, which has the final say on whether the scheme would go ahead.
