REVISED plans for a Sainsbury’s supermarket in Dorridge have excluded proposals to build a new doctors’ surgery.
Residents who took part in a workshop say alternative plans include a smaller store on the derelict Forest Court site but without a surgery.
An angry homeowner, who preferred to remain unnamed, said: “They have us over a barrel. Sainsbury’s maintain this is necessary to accommodate the new, only slightly reduced size of store. In other words, have the bigger store which they originally proposed and they will incorporate a new surgery.”
Jamie Powell, Sainsbury’s Regional Town Planning Manager, said: “An option was put forward for discussion at the workshop which featured a smaller store with the doctors’ surgery remaining in its current location. This was presented following feedback at the previous workshop.
“We are continuing to discuss the development with the doctors’ surgery, and will prepare for a full consultation with the wider community in Dorridge in due course.”
