SHIRLEY chef Aaron Darnley was the runner-up in this year’s Young Chef of the Year Awards.
The annual competition, run by the British Culinary Federation, pitted 16 top cooks against each other.
In proper Master Chef style, the chefs had to whip up a three-course meal (which had to include certain ingredients).
Aaron, who works at Edmunds Restaurant, in Brindley Place, was pipped to first place by Birmingham girl Helen Evans.
Solihull has a good record in the competition. Last year’s winner was Michael Dipple, from Chelmsley Wood, who works at the Forest Hotel, Dorridge.
