IT is with a heavy heart that I write. I recently discovered Sheldon Country Park. Many people walk their dogs there or just walk and enjoy it for what it is. It's not as good as some of the parks around the area, but it's ours!
It has Hatchford Brook running through it and loads of wildlife that most people wouldn't even know was there.
Well just this week I was enjoying a walk through there when I noticed some people having a picnic on the grass. That's fine, that's what it's there for. So I thought great.
But as I came back they had gone and where they had been was loads of rubbish and litter. They had just dumped it on the ground and left. This upset me and made me angry that people could be so thoughtless.
Earlier that same week I saw a man sitting by the brook drinking cans of beer. Again I thought that's fine, he's enjoying the park, maybe getting away for a while. But as I came past where he had been sitting I noticed he had thrown his empty beer cans and a carrier bag in the brook. I might have known!
These people are just scum, without a care or thought for anybody or anything else. They make me sick. They just don't get it do they? Well if this is the way these sad people treat it they might just as well build houses on it.
One last point. Where are the police? Why don't they patrol this area and try to stop people like this and the kids bombing down the public footpaths on motorbikes and scramblers?
