A FUND-RAISING Dad has been picked as the winner in a Father’s day competition to find the best Dad.
Karl Evans, who lives in Shirley, receives £250 worth of vouchers to spend in Mell Square as his prize.
Karl won after his two daughters, Sydney (age 13) and Bronte (age nine) entered him by writing a letter to the judges.
They explained how he had recovered from a serious spinal operation to complete the Great North Run, raising over £2,000 for the hospital that had helped him recover.
He also raised £650 for the Bobby Moore charity the following year.
When not raising money for charity, Karl is an employee at Bromford Housing association, where he helps people with learning difficulties, and, (most importantly) the girls say he does “everything in the world to make their lives great.”
Runners-up Gerry Meechan and Liam Kelly will also both receive £50 to spend on menswear at House of Fraser.
