These wheelie are local myths

WITH Solihull’s new recycling regime coming into force in a few weeks’ time, the council has attempted to nail a number of “myths” surrounding it.

WITH Solihull’s new recycling regime coming into force in a few weeks’ time, the council has attempted to nail a number of “myths” surrounding it.

It says the wheelie bins replacing black bags for ordinary waste will not have microchips fitted to spy on householders. Flat dwellers meanwhile will not get wheelie bins.

And computers on dustcarts, will be used to plan the vehicles’ routes, not weigh the waste.

From September 28, residents will also be able to recycle cans, tins, card and plastic bottles, as well as paper and glass.

No fines will be issued either for putting the wrong items in a bin - although persistent offenders can expect some questions.

For more information on recycling call 0121 704 8000 or visit www.solihull.gov.uk .
