A MUM who stole over £300 worth of goods from Sainsbury’s in Solihull was hoping to give them to her family for Christmas, a court heard.
Avril Gillard, 41, of Flint Green Road, Acocks Green, was caught loading bottles of whiskey and cosmetics into bags before leaving the supermarket without paying for them, on September 29.
Gillard said she stole the alcohol for her partner, who has a drink problem while the cosmetics were intended to be Christmas gifts for her family.
In her defence, the bench was told the defendant had no previous convictions since 2003.
Pleading guilty to theft, she was fined £110 and told to pay £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
