A THIEF with a string of previous convictions has appeared back before the court for wheeling a trolley full of food out of Asda without paying.
Anthony Taylor, of Barle Grove, Smith’s Wood, was caught attempting to steal over £160 worth of groceries from the Chelmsley Wood branch on September 7. Solihull Magistrates Court heard on Monday that the 45-year-old, who has 46 previous convictions for theft, activated the store alarms as he tried to leave the store with the goods.
The bench was told Taylor, who has previously served time in prison, is in a ‘difficult financial position.’
Pleading guilty to theft, he was given a community order and placed under a supervision requirement for 12 months. An alcohol treatment programme was also added to the sentence.
