THERE may be just a few weeks left until the end of the summer, but that hasn't stopped Solihull poets finding inspiration for our Great British Summer competition.
Solihull News and Touchwood have been asking for your poems in celebration of all that is summer.
Entries should be in one of two categories - children (under 16s) or adults (over 16s), and winners in each category will scoop £250 worth of Touchwood vouchers to spend in its wide range of retailers and restaurants.
All entries must be received by the September 5 and the winners will be announced shortly after.
Two young Solihull sisters share this week's choices for the under 16 category.
Megan's Summer Poem By Megan Sampson aged six
I run with an ice cream in my hand. I paddled in the sea while the waves hit me.
I sat on the sand and gazed at the beautiful land.
I looked at the sun which had just begun.
I watched the children playing, "We're making sandcastles they were saying!"
It was almost the end of the day, "Bye, bye!" I have to say!
Shauna's Summer Is Here Poem By Shauna Sampson aged nine.
Summer is here it's time to play
The rainy days have gone away!
The sun reflecting down like a ball of fire
As if it was an electro-cuted wire!
I watched the seagulls swoop by so fast
Not knowing how long the day would last
Waves rolling onto a mile of gold
As we watch the magic unfold! The day is drawing close to an end Another day is around the bend! Beautiful colours fill the sky "We have to go now, bye!" I sigh.
