Toastmasters hold key to successful public speaking

PUBLIC speaking can be a daunting task and you only have seconds to make that first impression.

PUBLIC speaking can be a daunting task and you only have seconds to make that first impression.

But Toastmasters International are convinced they have the key to unlock any nerves that may surround speaking in public.

Their inspiring groups install the confidence needed to become a competent communicator whether it involves speaking at work or just perfecting a best-mans speech.

The Heart of England group meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month at The Greswolde Hotel on Knowle High Street.

President of the club, John Farmer, said it has been a ‘record-breaking year’ in terms of number at the club.

“The club is growing all the time, and this year we’ve had over 60 members.

“People are amazed at their progress after just a few sessions with us.”

Mr Farmer also said that no-one is ever pressurised to speak at any meeting.

The local members will perform their fearless speeches at the Greswolde Hotel on March 29 and the winner could be featured on BBC2’s Young Speaker of the Year Competition.
