A mumtrepreneur from Knowle is getting up to monkey business as she becomes the latest franchisee of one of the country’s leading pre-school music groups.
Accountant and business trainer Becky Bate has packed in her day job to get ready to launch Monkey Music classes across Solihull in September, aimed at babies from three months right up to children of four years.
“It’s a challenge of course but I know first hand how fantastic Monkey Music is and I can’t wait to bring that to Solihull,” she said.
“As many parents will know, music and rhythm can engage children at an incredibly early age and there’s a great deal of research to show how important music can be in the development of young minds.”
Music loving Becky, who has played the piano, flute and guitar since an early age, first found Monkey Music after the birth of her daughter Lucy three years ago but had to travel to Warwickshire to attend.
With the arrival of daughter Katy two years later, the 28-year-old decided she wanted to bring Monkey Music to the borough to help introduce other very young children to the activities.
“Monkey Music differs from other pre-school music classes because it follows a fantastic curriculum that really sets youngsters up with a love of music for life.
“It’s entertaining and educational, great fun for the little ones and their carers too. I’ll be making sure I still have time to take my daughters to their class.”
Classes will be held in Solihull, Cheswick Green, Dickens Heath and Dorridge - with free taster sessions available.
