DAREDEVIL of the skies Tom Lackey has done it again with a record-breaking wingwalk across the English Channel - and back again.
The intrepid 91-year-old already holds three world records but the successful attempt on Tuesday (June 7) not only marked D-Day earlier this week but was undertaken in memory of Tom’s son Alex who died of cancer a month ago.
The plucky pensioner from Shirley was also inspired by his daughter Anne who was diagnosed with precancerous cells in 2008.
The grandfather, who lives in Solihull Road, spoke to the Solihull News soon after landing safely back at Llydd airport in Kent.
He said: “People said it was impossible the first time but I have done 27 now and broken my own Guinness World Record.
“This time the wingwalk was to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.”
The former builder first took up the hobby more than a decade ago when his wife died and he has since raised over a million pounds for charity.
