SOLIHULL College has scooped a top accolade - winner of the ‘Best Public Sector Communications’ category in the Best Business Awards 2009.
The awards aim to highlight excellence in public and private sectors across the nation and the college has been praised for its creative marketing campaigns and the way in which it connects with young people.
The last 18 months has seen an ongoing £31million redevelopment project at the Blossomfield campus with the college’s communication and marketing strategies undergoing major changes.
College Principal Brenda Sheils said: “As an FE College, we have a responsibility to meet the needs of an ever expanding, diverse community and the way in which we communicate with the public plays a key part in us achieving that.
“The redevelopment of our Blossomfield Campus makes the importance of effective communication even greater as we want to make sure that the whole community is aware of the advantages that this project will bring.
“To be the first college recognised in the Best Business Awards is truly rewarding.”
The Chair of Judges added: “Connecting with your target audience is vital when implementing a successful communication strategy. This is particularly challenging when your audience is young people but Solihull College has effectively achieved this. We were particularly impressed with the mix of creativity coupled with clarity of message.”
