NUMBER One Green MEP Candidate for the European Elections, Felicity Norman, made a visit to the UK’s top green trade fair on Wednesday.
Norman, who is fighting the BNP for the last seat in the region was at the NEC for Sustainability Live! where over 400 green businesses displayed their work.
The Green Party’s key pledge at the European elections is to create jobs through a major package of measures - the Green New Deal.
It is designed to create one million jobs over the next few years in renewable energy industries, public transport, free social care for the elderly and affordable housing built in the right places.
The MEP candidate said with the MP’s expenses dominating the headlines, people have forgot that we are in the middle of a major recession.
“We don’t want bailouts for the few but economic recovery for all and the Green New Deal would create in excess of 90,000 jobs in our region. “To have Sustainability Live here in Solihull says a lot about the fact Solihull and the West Midlands is perfectly placed to lead economic recovery, particularly in the industries of tomorrow.”
