Touchwood bonanza to welcome spring

SPRING is well and truly in the air and Touchwood is kicking off the season in style with its electrifying Spring Carnival.

SPRING is well and truly in the air and Touchwood is kicking off the season in style with its electrifying Spring Carnival.

From March 21 to April 26, the centre will be hosting a series of events for all the family to enjoy, including live music and dance, fashion shows, food demonstrations, children’s story telling time and a parade.

The event will culminate in a spectacular Rio-style parade on Saturday April 26.

The extravaganza opens on Saturday, March 21 with a sensational music and dance event packed full of rhythm and Latin passion.

There will be live music and dance workshops with a chance to try out new moves to the sensual sounds of Del Camino. Local dance schools will also be performing

The centre’s Summer Fashion Show returns for another year over the weekend of March 28 and 29 with the season’s hottest styles taking to the catwalk.

There will be top tips on how to create the perfect look for the summer.

Home to some of the UK’s best restaurants, cafés and bars, Touchwood’s food and drink event on Saturday April 4 promises to be a taste extravaganza, with top restaurants including La Tasca, TGI Fridays and Wagammas serving up carnival goodies.

People can also find out how they can introduce a carnival flavour into their home cooking.

Easter Saturday, April 11, will see magical fairytales and carnival stories come to life through Touchwood’s exciting story-telling sessions and mask-making workshops for children.

All local children are invited to come along and take part in these fun and interactive workshops which are free.

Saturday April 18 sees the return of Latin fever, with more carnival beats, Latin lessons and live performances.

The Spring Carnival will culminate on Saturday April 26 with a spectacular Rio-style parade.

Schools and dance companies from around the area will be donning colourful costumes and joining local dance group, Stagecoach, to travel in carnival style throughout Touchwood and along Solihull High Street.

Everyone is welcome to support their favourite ‘float’.
