THE family of a Chelmsley Wood man who died in a fatal road accident have paid tribute to their son.
John Braid, aged 25, was killed when his Fiat Bravo was involved in a head-on collision with a van. The accident happened as he was driving along Windward Way, Smith’s Wood on May 22.
When ambulance crews arrived they pronounced John dead at the scene. Now his family have issued the following statement:
“John was the best son and brother anyone could have wished for and will be sorely missed by all those who ever had the pleasure of having him in their lives.”
In the wake of last month’s tragedy, flowers and written tributes were tied to a tree near to the scene of the accident. And messages of support continue to be posted on social networking website Facebook.
Police meanwhile are urging people who might have seen what happened to come forward. The driver of a third vehicle, a Renault Megane, which had been driving along the same stretch of road, had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is currently on bail pending further inquiries.
