SOLIHULL Festival is here at last - with the first batch of events taking place tomorrow (Saturday).
Many months planning have gone into the fortnight’s events, with input from businesses, the public sector and voluntary groups.
Over 40 activities will be taking place over the next two-weeks and organisers have promised something for everyone’s tastes.
Richard Wallwork, acting co-ordinator, said: “We aim to increase awareness of the festivals to a much larger proportion of residents and hope they will want to take part, watch or support our programme.
“All events are being offered by voluntary groups with many of the events continuing to raise funds for charities and local organisations.”
Things get underway with the Castle Bromwich Community Festival - which promises gunge, foam and fun at the village junior school.
A mix of music, dance and family events will continue until September 26, when things are brought to a grand finale.
On the final day, families can enjoy a perennial favourite - Fun in the Park - and an all-new classic car rally.
While the festival has been running for around a decade, it was re-branded and expanded this year.
In the long-term, organisers hope that the event will boost tourism and draw more visitors from outside the borough.
