A KNOWLE watering hole has been awarded with the ‘Solihull CAMRA Pub of the Year Award’ for the NINTH time.
The Vaults, on the High Street, is also in the running for CAMRA’s Regional Pub of the Year. To help raise the profile of pubs and pub-going as part of Community Pubs Month, CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, released a list of the UK’s Top 150 local real ale pubs, which featured the popular village hostelry.
“We are obviously really pleased,” owner Nick Worrall told us.
“It’s a real boost to the staff as well, it takes a lot of hard work to be recognised for these sort of things. It has been a team effort and not just down to one individual.”
The pub has been given the local title on nine occasions between 1992 and 2008.
“There has been a bit of a break so it’s really nice to have it back,” Nick added.
Mike Benner, of CAMRA, said: “These winning pubs have been voted the best in their local areas by the local CAMRA members and are examples of the kind of well run and valued community pubs we hope to see more of throughout the UK.”
