LOCATED off the Stratford Road on The Green Business Park, the new build flagship 28,000 sq ft hotel opened its doors this month, representing a £22 million investment, which has created over 100 jobs for the area.

To celebrate the opening of the hotel, businesses were invited to a VIP Vegas launch party which was opened by The Worshipful, the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Norman Davies on October 9 and followed by a welcome from Dame Kelly Holmes, winner of two gold medals at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Dame Kelly Holmes was based at the hotel for several days with ‘On Camp with Kelly’, supported by Aviva, having chosen the hotel for it’s outstanding health and fitness facilities. ‘On Camp with Kelly’ is an initiative to mentor young middle distance runners to help them fulfil their potential.

The night was designed to showcase the hotel’s facilities and service. Guests were invited to tour the hotel, sample a range of freshly prepared canapés based on the innovative HUB Lunch buffet which is designed specifically for conference delegates and have a go at the power plates used in Velocity Health & Fitness, the hotels state-of-the-art fitness club.

The hotel will have 128-bedrooms all featuring the latest technology such as video iPod docking stations and widescreen LCD TVs. In addition, the hotel will also include a 128-cover restaurant Verve Grill

Other key features include the Velocity Health & Fitness Club; plus a dedicated corporate meeting and events facility including six conference rooms for up to 250 delegates with free Wi-Fi throughout.

The Velocity Health & Fitness Club boasts 5,000 sq ft of state-of-the-art gym equipment plus a 20 metre pool with sauna, steam room, spa pool and hydrotherapy pool, three studios for group exercise classes, and a dynamic personal training zone, which features Technogym Omega.

Tony Elvin, manager at Village Hotel Solihull, said: “Solihull has a vibrant corporate and social community, which we believe will appreciate our business model. We have strived to create a hotel which has an element to suit every need and with the Verve Grill, Victory Pub and Kitchen, Starbucks, Velocity Health & Fitness and The Hub Meetings and Events area, we believe we have achieved this. Wherever you find a VILLAGE Hotel you find a business that is at the heart of the local community as well as a popular business destination.”
