SO THE focal point of the centre of Knowle village is to be a Waitrose supermarket with the village hall stuffed away at the rear. Do we really want this?
The proposed landscaping is more Redditch than Knowle and is a copycat version of that used in Staines where the local youth leapt on it with delight...along with their stunt bikes, cans, bottles, chip paper and sweet wrappings. All this landscaping will need maintenance and our council is hard-pressed to maintain the two flower beds in the precinct.
Twenty five per cent of the road circling the green is to become part of the landscaping. How will this affect the route of the dustcart?
Do we really need yet another supermarket especially in view of the fact that more and more middle income customers (the target group of shoppers) are now doing their grocery shopping on line. Will this building end up as another white elephant?
