Warning is made over charity con

KIND-hearted Silhillians are being warned about bogus charity collectors, who claim to represent the Midlands Air Ambulance.

KIND-hearted Silhillians are being warned about bogus charity collectors, who claim to represent the Midlands Air Ambulance.

The similarly-named Air Ambulance Support Ltd are delivering flyers, asking for donations, but they have no connection to the actual charity.

Last week, the Solihull News was contacted by a Dorridge woman, who didn’t want to be named, who had a leaflet put through the door.

The resident had already read about the door-to-door collections in Worcester and was stunned when one of the flyers dropped through her own letterbox.

“They are diverting funds from the real Air Ambulance at a time when they need the funding,” she said.

Midlands Air Ambulance said that it had no association with the company and has issued a statement to local people.

“We would advise you to note their details if available and report their visit to your local trading standards office and police.

“There is an on-going investigation by authorities into these companies and your information may be vital in stopping their activity.”

Donations can be made direct to the Air Ambulance by calling 0800 8 40 20 40 or going to www.midlandsairambulance.com.
