AS temperatures drop the likelihood of taking a tumble rises and Solihull Hospital is advising Silhillians to take extra care this winter.
Slips and falls are the most common type of accident in the over 65s and can also be the most serious, being one of the leading causes of death among people over 75.
Bridget Leach, falls prevention nurse specialist, said: “We do see an increase in falls at this time of year which require a hospital visit.
“I’d encourage everyone to think about family and friends who may be susceptible to slips, and talk over the potential risks with them.
“Just a few simple steps can help them stay safe and reduce the chance of them suffering a fall this winter.”
