I’VE just looked through the Spring/Summer 2010 programme of the Solihull Arts Complex and there is an impressive list of events.
All looks good until you reach the Gallery Exhibitions where, between January 28 and February 20, we will be treated to ‘Inside Out’, the first of the ‘Paper Season’. Keeley Lowe has created a ‘large scale installation’ of ‘old, used and discarded cardboard boxes’. The picture fits the description and looks just like the inside of my loft.
Reading on, I’m relieved to find ‘the work attempts to challenge the viewers (sic) perceptions and aims to induce doubt about the very structure we assume to be reality’.
I think I’ve worked it out: I have a ‘perception’ that Ms Lowe also has a loft full of low-grade cardboard which she is forbidden to put in her paper recycling bin. Instead she will arrange it in the foyer of the Solihull Arts Complex.
It’s a convoluted method of disposal but it might work.
