IN response to Ms Nunn’s letter ‘Sea of mess’ on August 21 regarding the lake in Meriden Park, Chelmsley Wood.
We are aware that the lake currently has problems with blanket and pond weed. The build-up of these is preventing the free flow of the lake which would move the weed and debris to the weir where it could be safely removed.
Our park rangers are removing as much as possible to improve water flow. We are currently in the process of employing a specialist contractor to assist in this so the lake can be enjoyed by the users of the park.
I would like to reassure readers that every effort is made to ensure that the habitat is kept both clean and safe so residents and visitors can enjoy this facility.
Coun Mrs Kate Wild, Cabinet Member for Community Services.
