I AGREE 100 per cent with reader David Parker regarding the inadequacy of the green recycling box (Letters Solihull News January 15).
With just one newspaper a day, all the junk mail, used envelopes, food packaging and other waste that goes in it, our green paper box is almost full after one week.
However, I don’t agree with him that we need another wheelie bin, pink or otherwise. All we need is for the green box to be emptied every week instead of fortnightly. If Solihull MBC can’t stretch to that, I for one would be quite happy for them to empty my green box every week and the black box and plastic bag every fortnight as those are nowhere near full every week. If SMBC can’t do that how about emptying any two of three every week?
I appreciate the council system can’t suit everyone all the time but why paper is only collected every two weeks surprises me. I am also surprised that they still won’t take corrugated cardboard from the doorstep but will take it at their recycling centres.
