WHAT an eye-opener the multi-coloured, many paged, hard to read leaflet issued by Solihull Care Trust was. What do they do, for a salary expenditure in excess of half a million pounds, and a chief executive on a scale comparable to that of our Prime Minister! And that ignores expenses and pension rights.
The leaflet is full of platitudes, but my wife and I have noticed no difference in our NHS. Admittedly, this may be because we both have had occasion to use our hospital a couple or so years ago, and again this year, and, like your other correspondents, we can only have praise for everything that happened to us there. Equally well, our surgery at Monkspath can not be faulted, and with both of us well past pensionable age, the staff could well be fed up with us!
So what are we left with? A new call-in surgery, no appointments needed, and open 12 hours a day, every day of the year. And the demand? Less than 1,000 a month! Just over 30 a day! Less than three an hour!
The mind boggles at what everyone finds to do with their time, whether it be the highly qualified staff at the call-in centre, or the trust’s staff with their grandiose titles.
