I WRITE in response to the letter printed in last week’s paper ‘Rubbish Idea’ (Solihull News).
The letter states that Solihull Council had been offered – and turned down – an opportunity to pay for its residents to use recycling centres in Birmingham.
I would like to make it very clear that no such offer has been made to us.
We appreciate that some residents live closer to recycling centres in Birmingham than our centre in Bickenhill. However, we are launching extra recycling services in the next few weeks, which will mean residents will be able to recycle even more materials and have them collected from their doorstep. This will mean fewer trips to the recycling centre in Bickenhill.
More information is being provided in our magazine ‘Your Solihull’ currently being distributed. We will also be giving all residents leaflets detailing collection dates and other information about the new service.
We hope everyone takes this opportunity to take part in the new recycling services and do their bit for the environment.
Coun Mrs Kate Wild.
