What a treat

ON BEHALF of my mother Kathleen Tonks a 93 year old resident at Accords Silver Birch care home, Chelmesley Wood, I would like to say a huge thank you to them for arranging a visit to her beloved Aston Villa to see the game against Hull (as reported in Solihull News, December 11).

Accompanied by Joel, and driven by David from Silver Birch she was also presented with an Aston Villa scarf, which is now part of the furniture in her room.

To complete the excitement a Midlands Today television crew turned up at Silver Birch, much to the delight and interest of the other residents and staff to film an interview for the Monday night sports slot.

What a couple of days for a 93 year-old. At a time when so much bad news and negative publicity is reported on care for the elderly and vulnerable (which should be reported). I felt I must put pen to paper to say thank you to the staff for arranging this special treat and for the excellent care my mother receives at Silver Birch.

Marylyn Elkins,
A self confessed WBA season ticket holder.
