Wife's proud words for husband who completed race after learning to walk again

“I’M so proud of my husband for running the London Marathon after learning to walk again.”

“I’M so proud of my husband for running the London Marathon after learning to walk again.”

These are the heart warming words of Monkspath woman Sonja Graham, whose husband recently completed the 26 mile race in five hours, 27 minutes.

Steve Graham, aged 48, was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord, three years ago, which left him paralysed from the chest down.

After six weeks in hospital and intense physiotherapy Steve was able to walk again.

The couple both applied to take part in the London Marathon last year, without either one knowing.

Sonja, 40, had her own hurdles to overcome after undergoing back surgery for a prolapsed disc.

The couple have raised £2,600 for deaf, blind charity Sense.
