NEXT week sees the start of National Dairy Week 2009, and The Dairy Council wants people to be aware of the importance of including nutrient-rich dairy products in their diets.
The best way to get all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals the body needs is to eat a healthy balanced diet.
This involves eating lots of fruit and vegetables, and making starchy foods such as wholegrain bread, pasta and rice the centre focus of a meal. Milk and dairy foods are also very important as they provide the body with an impressive combination of nutrients, many of which are essential.
Milk, cheese and yogurt are all important providers of calcium, helping you towards a healthy body.
Other sources of calcium are green leafy vegetables, almonds, seeds and pulses, as well as fish where you eat the bones such as sardines.
To mark National Dairy Week 2009 we’ve been given a fabulous children’s goodie bag to give away.
