Windfall for local causes

ORGANISERS and sponsors of Solihull Carnival have handed more than £5,500 to local charities from this year’s event.

ORGANISERS and sponsors of Solihull Carnival have handed more than £5,500 to local charities from this year’s event.

Marie Curie Cancer Care Solihull and HAVING Fun Together each received £2,850 after all donations were collected. Representatives from Shirley Round Table and Shirley Ladies Club joined sponsors LaSer UK and Village Hotel Solihull to deliver the cheques at Marie Curie’s Solihull Hospice.

Lisa Simcox, sales and marketing director for LaSer UK, which is one of the biggest employers in Solihull town centre, said: “We were delighted to be able to support the Solihull Carnival this year and it was a fantastically rewarding experience to be able to donate such an impressive sum of money to the charities.

“Employees from LaSer UK and our fellow sponsors, Village Hotel Solihull, really got on board with the event and the organisers did a great job in making the event such a success. We’re already looking forward to next year’s carnival.”
