Window cleaner is airlifted to hospital after falling at work

A SOLIHULL park was the landing place for the Midlands Air Ambulance on Monday (August 17).

A SOLIHULL park was the landing place for the Midlands Air Ambulance on Monday (August 17). A window cleaner was the casualty suffering multiple injuries in a fall.

The man, aged 45 and from Alvechurch, was cleaning windows in Slater Road, Bentley Heath when the accident occurred at around 6.30pm. .

A rapid response vehicle, two community first responders and the air ambulance from Cosford raced to the scene where the victim was treated.

An ambulance spokesman said: “The man was cleaning first floor windows when it appears he fell approximately 20 feet onto concrete.

“The man was initially unconscious but gradually came round as he was treated by ambulance staff.”

“He had suffered potentially serious chest, back and head injuries and was immobilised before being airlifted to the Regional Trauma Centre at Selly Oak Hospital where medics were on standby for his arrival.”
