Witnesses appeal aired after crash at blackspot

POLICE have appealed for information, following chaos at a notorious accident blackspot last Wednesday (February 22).

POLICE have appealed for information, following chaos at a notorious accident blackspot last Wednesday (February 22).

As reported last week, a No 49E bus and skip lorry collided near Shirley railway station.

Four people were taken to hospital following the incident on Haslucks Green Road at around 4.15pm.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Eleven people were assessed at the scene by ambulance personnel and a doctor, who had been travelling on board the air ambulance.”

A man thought to be in his 50s, suffered a leg injury and a woman, also in her 50s had a head injury. Both were taken to Heartlands Hospital.

Paramedics also treated a woman in her 40s who sustained an injured ankle and was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

Another bus passenger, an elderly woman in her 80s, was transferred to Solihull Hospital as a precaution.

The spokeswoman said that seven others, four adults and three children, were assessed at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.
