Woman forced out of car after raid on off-licence

A TERRIFIED woman was forced out of her car by knife-wielding robbers as they fled a bungled hold-up at a Castle Bromwich off-licence.

Two men were thwarted as they tried to force their way behind the counter of The Local store on Chester Road and escaped with just a few bottles of wine.

After fleeing the store they threatened a woman who had been using a cashpoint, forcing their victim to hand over the keys to her Peugeot 207.

Police this week released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace in connection with the incident, which happened at about 7.30pm last October 12.

Det Con Graham Hussey, from Solihull robbery team, said: “We are keen to find these men, and hope that someone recognises the person featured in the CCTV image.

“The offenders were prepared to threaten people with a knife, and when they failed in one attempt to rob the shop they then stole the car off a woman who had the misfortune to be in the area at the time.”

The men are both described as white and in their late teens to early 20s. One wore a grey tracksuit type hooded top and jeans, while the other a dark long-sleeved top and jeans and a baseball cap.

Anyone with information is urged to call CID at Solihull police station on 0845 113 5000.
