You pay for it

WHAT a shame for Ian Wood that free State handouts might be under threat (Letters) if there is a change of Government next year.

The Tories, in my opinion, have not gone far enough in only looking at cutting Child Tax Credit for households who earn over £50,000 a year.

All Child Benefits/Child Tax Credits should be scrapped, along with a host of other ‘freebies’ for people who want something for nothing.

Perhaps Ian Wood can justify why the State should sponsor people to have children. It’s a social choice to have a family, not something that is forced upon people against their will.

What do childless couples get out of the tax system? Nothing, except a whopping great tax bill to pay for those who do.

Here’s a simple economics lesson for everyone during this recession - if you can’t afford it, don’t have it. And if you do have it, don’t expect anyone else to pay for it.
