SINCE launching our Business Person of the Month Awards this year, we have been overwhelmed by the innovative entrepreneurship of Solihull’s business community.
Created in partnership with the Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel, the awards look to recognise the unsung champions of borough business.
Whether that’s enterprising mumtrepreneurs, like January winner Collette Brown, whose Create-Build-Learn company impressed judges with its fun yet educational parties using LEGO and stop-animation, which is now expanding into schools.
Or those already enjoying international success such as Alan Barratt, the man behind best-selling fat burning supplement company Grenade, which sells in 130 countries. He picked up the prestigious prize in February.
Possibly, like March winner and owner of the Catwalk Cafe in Knowle, you have created a beautiful and unique retail experience. Fashion designer Gillian Wesley, who began making corsets on her kitchen table, was nominated by an employee at her Belle Epoque-inspired eaterie.
Maybe you started the business simply to save your 90-year-old family farmstead, at risk due to the recent farming crisis, which blossomed into one of Britain’s largest farm shops and cafe, just like last month’s winners Gary and Jayne Oakes.
Or perhaps you know a loyal employee who has dedicated their lives to serving a business, or even an inspiring manager, we are looking to recognise anyone making a difference to business in Solihull.
Those lucky enough to be chosen are invited to a winners luncheon, with leaders of the business community, presented with an award, and they and their business are featured in the Solihull News.
Monthly winners will then be invited back for the Business Person of the Year awards.
