ART has always been a passion of young Thomas Cooper and this month he had the chance to exhibit his work at the Birmingham ArtsFest event.
Twelve-year-old Thomas was the only child to have his pieces put on show in the Art on the Railings event. He joined around ten adult artists in displaying their work in Centenary Square.
The pieces won many admiring glances and several were bought by passers-by. One woman who had purchased one of the youngster’s drawings two years ago even came searching for him.
Proud dad Simon said: “He has been interested in art from an early age, creating pictures before he could walk. His main passion is animals, however he is also branching into cartoons, modern art and ladies’ fashion.”
For the last few years, he has joined in adult pastel classes with his grandad Roy. And the public exhibition at ArtsFest is not the first time that Thomas’ work has gone on display - he first exhibited artwork in 2007.
The next step is for Thomas to set up his own website. It’s not gone live as yet, but if you want to know more about ArtsFest - held annually in Birmingham city centre - go to www.artsfest.org.uk.
