Solihull College and City College Birmingham have gone into partnership with the Business Improvement District, BID, to offer their students an insight into the real business world while companies benefit from additional staff and training.
Sandy Gianni, Acocks Green BID Manager, said: “The BID, working in partnership with colleges on our doorstep are able to offer organisations customised bespoke training for all staff, help for businesses in the form of apprentices and complete business reviews.”
“We practice what we preach. The BID team are taking on an apprentice to work with us in helping businesses in the Acocks Green Village BID and we are also looking at what training we can undertake to help us serve our businesses better”.
Several companies within Acocks Green are already taking advantage and reaping the rewards of the partnerships training including Lawsons Insurance.
Lynne Donnelly, Associate Director, said: “The Business benefits are immense. Having an apprentice frees me and my staff up to do other things. Business has increased since our apprentice started four months ago.
“We are definitely going to take on another apprentice in the near future”.
Sandy is now hoping that more businesses will follow their example and she and her team will be promoting the benefits of the partnership.
