Yule be sorry if you offend

LOCAL police are distributing Christmas cards to prolific offenders telling them to stay away from crime over the festive period.

LOCAL police are distributing Christmas cards to prolific offenders telling them to stay away from crime over the festive period.

There are nearly 900 ‘prolific priority offenders’ (PPOs) across the region who are known to police as people who commit many crimes.

In the community, PPOs are closely supervised by local offender manager teams, who will deliver the cards over the next few weeks.

The card is based on the popular Marks & Spencer’s television advertising campaign. The front shows a juicy turkey with the strap line, ‘This is not just any Christmas dinner…’ Inside the card reads; ‘this is a West Midlands Police Christmas dinner’ followed by a less appetising photo of a police custody meal.

The back of the card asks offenders to not to miss out on another Christmas and urges them to ask for help to move away from crime if they need it. The overall message is to move away from crime and seek help to make a fresh start.
