Casino plan concern for Faith Forum

MEMBERS of Solihull’s Faith Forum have voiced concerns about building a casino in Solihull.

Father Patrick Gerard, curate of St Alphege Parish Church, will be airing his views at a public meeting taking place next week.

The event has been organised by Solihull Council and is part of a public consultation on its gambling policy.

“The main issue is the potential to increase addiction to gambling,” said Father Patrick. “I am concerned that the casino will exploit vulnerable people.

Solihull is one of 16 local councils which have been given approval for a large casino.

The meeting will take place at the Renewal Christian Centre, Lode Lane next Tuesday at 6pm. The consultation as a whole will run until June 26 - write to Gavin Morrice, Public Protection Manager, PO Box 1833, Council House, Solihull MBC B91 9DZ or email gamblingpolicy@solihull.gov.uk.
