LIGHTNING struck a house in Hillfield, Solihull, and knocked out the electricity supply.
Two town-based crews were called to the end-terrace property in Oakwood Croft at 4.40pm on Monday (June 15) after lightning hit a light fitting on a loft wall.
“The power supply ‘blew’ and the woman in the house got showered with sparks,” said crew commander Pete Moore. “It must have been quite a frightening experience.
“When we arrived the 34-year-old woman had put two children, a girl aged three, and a six-year-old boy in a car for safety.”
No-one was hurt. There was no fire but firefighters made the scene safe.
Electricity engineers were called in check out the power supply.
