Satveer Garcha, of Bellflower Drive, Tamebridge, Walsall, pleaded guilty to illegally importing 2.8grams of the Class B drug, after returning from a short break with friends in the Netherlands.
But Isfaq Qadir, defending, said his client had not meant to bring it back to the UK, he had simply forgotten it was there.
“While he was there he went to a coffee shop. He had some cannabis and put it into his trouser pocket and put it into his bag.
“He told me it would be just as easy and cheap for him to buy cannabis over here from local dealers.”
The former warehouse operative, who has a number of other convictions for drugs possession, was sentenced to three months in jail, suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs.
