Indulge your hair with an autumn treat

NOW that the kids have gone back to school, it’s a sign that we really are on the way to autumn and the colder, darker nights.

Although my summer holiday is now a distant memory, I still had the legacy of my ‘holiday hair’ to remind me of sunnier climes and sought the advice of the experts at Francesco in Knowle for the solution.

When visiting the hairdresser I’m quite happy to leave the technical stuff to the professionals and as Francesco had just been nominated for various awards I knew I was in safe hands.

As soon as I arrived, their resident Wella Master Colour Expert Heather McMullen had cast her discerning eye over my lacklustre locks and was full of ideas to restore some glory to my crown.

She finally decided on a mix of warm autumnal browns and beiges and a colour wash to the roots to hide those nasty bits that we don’t talk about.

Next it was the turn of Senior Stylist Dannii Ferreira who suggested a fuller fringe and lots of layers for a softer look, which coupled with the weaving colours gave the impressions of lots of ‘movement’ through the hair.

My hair is naturally very curly and Dannii showed me a way to blow-wave chunks of hair around the brush to form nice soft curls without the need for hot tongs.

I was delighted with the results but it’s not just about the new hairstyle - the staff at Francesco are very into the after care and I left the salon with products to keep my shiny new curls in tip top condition.

They also offer a free fringe cutting service so no more snipping the ends off with the kitchen scissors!
