ANDY Stokes won the inaugural WPGA Par 3 Championship last week at the Par 3 course at Nailcote Hall.
The Lea Marston hot-shot cruised round thedemanding layout to return a three-under par total of 51.
After 9 holes both he and Rob Challis (John Reay Golf centres) were tied on 25 and it was clear that the contest was going to the last and, indeed, this proved to be the case.
Sadly Challis’s ball came off the shank and he was lucky to finish with a 5 to Stokes’s 3, a sad end to what was an exciting Championship. Stokes’s win qualified him to play in the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship on August 5/6 at Nailcote Hall.
