Wall rides to record victory

AN incredible ride by James Wall clinched the Shirley Cup in the Shirley Road CC open 50 mile time trial on Sunday on the K33/540 course.

Wall, riding in the colours of Stratford-on-Avon CC completed the ride in one hour 48 minutes and nine seconds – a new course record – and a clear one minute 45 seconds ahead of his closest rival, S Povey of Warwickshire RC.

R Weare was third for Team Midland in 1:55:43 while P Hunt of Wyre Forest CRC was first on handicap in 1:32:46. The veterans cup went to J Dicon of Team Endura MI Racing, while the Ladies Shield was won by Marina Bloom of Rugby RCC in 2:14:56. Fastest team were the Walsall RC outfit of M Mullender, P Brown and

S Forscutt in 6:10:11.
