HAMPTON & Solihull Cricket Club captain Mike Palmer picked up the June's Prime Chartered Accountants player of the month award after a string of fine performances.

HAMPTON & Solihull Cricket Club captain Mike Palmer picked up the June's Prime Chartered Accountants player of the month award after a string of fine performances.

The reliable batsman has been a key figure this season after consistently hitting big scores when opening the innings at Marsh Lane.

Despite carrying an injury the 44-year-old hit a 63 not out, 34, 57, and 73 in the month's four matches.

But team-mate Richard Lucas nominated the Home Retail Group Operations Manager not only for his impressive scores, but more importantly because of the off-the-field work that he puts into the club.

"He is the driving force behind the club and as well as getting three sides out every weekend he has created a junior section which is coming on very well and is vital to the club and the area.

"His tireless enthusiasm for the game has helped a new Solihull club survive and grow."

John McDonald, managing director of Prime Chartered Accountants agreed Palmer deserved this month's award, although he admitted it was a tough decision with a number of other excellent nominations...SUPL:
