Moors wrapped up their pre-season with a 1-1 draw at the Valley Stadium in which those players who did not play at Alfreton got the chance to impress manager Marcus Bignot.
The weather at Redditch changed from sunshine to teeming rain and back to summer in the space of 90 minutes.
Not ideal but a revitalised Redditch side gave Moors a good run for their money in an entertaining game.
For the opening ten minutes Moors were on the back foot and had goalkeeper Deale Chamberlain to thank on six minutes as he made a late charge from his goal to force an error as the impressvie Jamie Molyneux was in for a one on one.
It was the same again on 12 minutes, this time Chamberlain saving with his legs from the No.11.
Moors’ first meaningful attack arrived on 13 minutes when captain Lewis Hayden set up Michael Taylor but the shot hit the side netting.
Five minutes later Alex Cooper was just wide with his bicycle kick from a cross by Taylor in the box.
Redditch were unlucky to see Jordan Tunnicliffe scramble the ball away as it rolled towards the goal line but could do nothing as Moors replied with a Michael Taylor goal following a defence-splitting pass from Reece Fleet.
The torrential rain arrived early in the second half as the hosts went in search of an equaliser which duly arrived on 65 minutes following a goalmouth scramble.
It was no more than they deserved and they kept up the momentum with a succession of corners.
Moors’ best chance of the half came on 72 minutes when Hayden was brought down after a good run from midfield but Fleet’s free-kick was deflected for a corner.
